Minutes of Council Meeting – 11th November 2009

Minutes of Previous Meeting Proceeds from the recent Theatre Night were £170. Subject to this amendment, the previous Minutes were approved.
Matters Arising
- Past Presidents’ Dinner – 24 attended an enjoyable evening.
- Heli2Africa – A booklet has been produced showing the new route to be flown by the helicopter.
President’s Report
- Interact Clubs – The 2 Clubs are progressing and have now selected local charities to support. It is hoped to Charter the Clubs early in the New Year. Kirkcaldy High School is organising a ‘Wear Purple’ Day in aid of Polio Plus, whilst Viewforth High School is producing ‘Candy Sticks’ to be sold in aid of Polio Plus.
- Thanks for Life Project – A meeting will be held soon with Kirkcaldy Raith to arrange a combined project.
- Bring a Friend Day – Meeting on 1 December 2009 – Club Members are being encouraged to bring a friend to the meeting.
- A Special AGM will be held on 8 December 2009.
Treasurer’s Report
Robert Main had submitted a copy of the Annual Account and also a financial report for the period July – November, 2009. Both reports were discussed in his absence.
Secretary’s Report Ron McGill reported on the following correspondence:
- Glenrothes RC – Top of The Form Quiz for Secondary Pupils
- Cowdenbeath RC – Young Musician of the Year
- District 1010 – Supplies required for formation of Pipe Band in South Africa
- District 1010 – Information re Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) 2010
Administration Committee Report
Attendance A report from Jim Hutt was noted by Council members.
Programme Dallas Mechan reported on the current programme
.Website Rod Scott reported that Website hits for October were slightly down on the previous month. Alan Suttie’s talk on the work in Tanzania was now on the website along with a short video from an American.
Foundation Committee Report
- David Muncey advised that an application for a District Simplified Grant will be submitted to District.
- A delivery of RIBI Christmas Cards is expected soon.
- A ‘Purple Pinkie’ Day will be organised for 27th February to help raise finds for Polio Plus.
Service Project Report
Vocational No report
Community Tickets for the Adam Smith Theatre Pantomime are to be collected this month
International Alan Suttie’s written report was discussed.
Youth Stewart Gilmour has received the information re the RYLA Camps and he will now contact the schools.
Membership Report
- Keith O’Donnell was inducted on 3 November 2009.
- Bring a Friend Day on 1 December may help with membership issues.
Public Relations Committee Report
Visits Archie Campbell advised that the next Club visit will be to Kinross, with subsequent visits to Kirkcaldy Raith in January, and Leven in February.
Gavel Competition The Club’s involvement in the 2009 Gavel is now concluded. The Bowling Club proved to be an excellent venue.
Sports A number of curling fixtures will take place over the next month.
Fellowship
- Kinghorn Singers in Town House – Tickets are now on sale
- Wine Tasting – this will be held in December
Ingolstadt Iain Gow is now assisting in arrangements for the reciprocal visits with Ingolstadt.
