Minutes of Council Meeting – 17th February 2010
Present President Ann Mitchell, JVP Ian Taylor, Ron McGill, PP Bill Stewart, PP Bob Buchan, PP David Muncey, PP Tony Payne, Stewart Gilmour, David Walker, Archie Campbell, Keith O’Donnell, Rod Scott, Gary Horsburgh (minutes).

Minutes of Previous Meeting The previous Minutes were approved.
Matters Arising
- Bring a Friend to Rotary Day – President Ann will discuss with Dallas Mechan the scheduling of another event during the current Rotary year
- Top of the Form event – following a letter from St Andrews HS pupils expressing interest in this event, Ann obtained Council’s agreement in principle for the Club’s involvement in future competitions, subject to official confirmation from the local High Schools.
- Sun Dial, Beveridge Park – Tony Payne/Les Soper will report back to Council with proposals for a suitable design and relevant costings.
President’s Report
- Inter Act Clubs – President Ann advised that Viewforth High School had raised £400 for Barnardo’s through various fundraisers; will be assisting in the Thanks for Life events; and intends to hold a Coffee Morning on 10 March within the school. Meanwhile, Kirkcaldy High School is holding a Purple Day on 26 February, and a Hugging Maggie’s event on 26 March.
- Tony Payne is making arrangements for Environment Day on 29 May.
- Council members formally agreed to the Club’s involvement in the July 2010 Beveridge Festival which falls within the next Club year.
- President Ann and Iain Gow had met with PP Bill Coggans to discuss arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Ingolstadt Rotarians in June. The Club needs to identify members willing to provide day-hosting and home-hosting for the visitors. Iain Gow is to lead on this issue.
- Ann has received an undertaking from The Courier newspaper to feature the Club’s forthcoming Thanks for Life events.
Treasurer’s Report
- A report from Robert Main was circulated. A full statement on monies involved in the Tanzania Project will be prepared by Robert Main and Alan Suttie. Iain Gow is to put together a paper for Council detailing proposed costings for the incoming Ingolstadt visit.

Administration Committee Report
- Attendance A written report from Jim Hutt was read by Ron McGill

- Website Rod Scott has received website content concerning Tanzania Project, Heli2Africa, and ShelterBoxes.
Foundation Committee Report – David Muncey advised re:
- Tanzania Project – The District Simplified Grant for £800 has been approved and David will now request that District transfer this money.
- Rotary ‘Thanks for Life’ – arrangements for the fundraising events at retail outlets over the following 2 weekends are at an advanced stage, albeit David is disappointed with the low number of Rotarians who have committed to assist.
Service Project Report

- Youth Stewart Gilmour reported that arrangements with local High Schools regarding candidates for this year’s Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camps (RYLA) were progressing well. He is currently awaiting completed CV’s from the candidates. Ken Stahly is leading on the Kids Out Initiative.
Membership Report
Rod Scott advised that he has yet to receive information from RIBI regarding the success of the Membership initiative.
Public Relations Committee Report
- Visits The Raith Club were recently visited. The next visit is to Leven.
- Sports A curling match is to be held soon against Edinburgh.
- Fellowship A successful dinner was held at Adam Smith College on 10 February.
The Club’s Annual Charity Dinner will be held on 23 April. It was agreed to change the date of the Museum Cheese & Wine Evening from 30 to 9 April.
Rod Scott agreed to arrange a team to represent the Club at the Dundee Discovery Quiz Night on 10 March.
